Prenatal Care
Our practice specializes in treating women through pregnancy. We are often asked if it safe to start or continue chiropractic care once a woman is pregnant. Of course it is! And if you are not seeing a chiropractor you should start! Your body is about to go through some major changes both hormonal and structurally. Chiropractic care supports your body in handling all these changes.
We modify our technique to accommodate your growing baby bump as well as the lovely hormonal changes that allow for baby’s passage through the birth canal. Our doctors are Webster Certified. Which is a technique that is especially designed for the female pelvis. The Webster Technique is a sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved. Our treatment is gentle, specific, and therefore non-invasive and safe for mom and baby!
Balancing the pelvis and improving alignment and motion of the spinal joints is critical for everyone but specifically for the pregnant woman. The uterus is attached to the bones of the pelvis, specifically the sacrum. When the sacrum is misaligned, it can place uneven tension on the uterus and compromise the space available for baby to move and develop within the womb, and ultimately reach the ideal head down position for birth. Women that are under chiropractic care frequently report easier and shorter births.
