Freedom from Pain

If I could take it all away I would, but since pain is a part of our lives, we should talk about it. This is something we address every day in the office. There’s different forms and origins of pain, and as a result we must address it from all angles. After working on people for over a decade I can say that there have seen miracle recoveries in people I thought I couldn’t help, and the very opposite unfortunately. Why is this? Why do we have pain and what makes it go away? Addressing pain holistically involves recognizing the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. By exploring natural treatments, we can find relief that supports overall health without relying solely on pharmaceuticals or invasive procedures.

C-Section Awareness Month

“I had one.  I gave up.  My body failed me.  It was a life saver.  It was the worst recovery ever.  All that, and only to end up on the surgical table surrounded by sterile faceless dictators that brought my baby into this world listening to the Beatles.”  I’ve said every single one of these things, probably within 24 hours of each other.  Cesareans are no joke.  Whether they are planned, a well thought out decision or an emergency call, having your body cut open, your baby forcibly removed from your womb and calling that “birth,” can be a bit traumatizing.

Your Genes Are NOT A Death Sentence

What genetically differentiates an eye cell from that in your toe? Genetically speaking? When we are born, we get two sets of chromosomes, equal parts from your mom and dad. Genetically speaking, all of our cells are exactly the same. How then, does a heart cell contribute to the pumping of blood, and a brain cell contributes to everything else the body does? It’s simple really. Environment. The body’s environment is what determines if a gene is expressed…or not.

Share the Love

Make sure your body is ready for romance both in and out of the bedroom: I used to always chuckle at the TV commercials for Viagra yes, I have the maturity of an 8th grade boy sometimes. “Make sure your body is healthy enough for sex.” I’m pretty sure any 98 year old man would say he’s healthy enough. Well if you’re 98, or 28 and want to ensure you are good to go for Valentine’s Day then read on!

A New Year Begins Clear

Happy New Year! It’s that time again where we take stock in our lives and make resolutions to do better, be better, feel better. The best way to do all three of these things is to detoxify. So many dinners and parties over the holidays have us eating and drinking more than usual. We also may have some mental issues from work or family confrontations that need to be cleared from your mind. Detoxification includes those as well, so here are some helpful tips to begin the New Year on a healthy note.

Is Breastfeeding REALLY Best?

It was the middle of May 2019. I sat up, turned on the lamp and as I watched it rain, I asked God why He made breastfeeding so incredibly painful if He wanted us to care for our babies. Breastfeeding is tough! No doubt we all know a mom or we were that mom who struggled with the lifegiving gift we are blessed (or cursed) with. I have some theories as to why it can be difficult for moms and babies to endure this which I’ll share. Most importantly though, is to understand the benefits.

Are Kegels the Answer?

Alright, ladies, how many of you have been told to do your Kegels like this one exercise is going to make your lady parts go back to normal just like that. Or, how many of you have been told that peeing while running, jumping, or even sneezing is normal and it will get better. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. Women should not be going through their daily lives thinking there is nothing they can do but Kegels to restore “normal” bodily functions. A woman’s body is amazing in the way it creates, changes, and adapts to pregnancy and childbirth.

Hubbies & Headaches: How Chiropractic Care Help

Did you know that June is the poster month for both headaches and men’s health, pretty ironic, am I right wives? In all seriousness; did you know that according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) in 2018, women were nearly twice as likely as men to have had a severe headache or migraine in the past 3 months (20.1% versus 10.6%), with the most prevalent age group affected being 18-44?

Why would a chiropractor like me be so interested in these statistics? Headache disorders are among the most common disorders of the nervous system, this is literally what chiropractors specialize in- disorders of the nervous system.
