Accepting new chiropractic & wellness patients - Schedule Your Appointment

Prenatal Chiropractor in Greeley, CO

Your body is doing something it has never done before, and most of what you are feeling, the back pain, the pelvic pressure, the round ligament pain that catches you off guard when you stand up too fast, is your body adapting in real time to a baby that is growing every single day.

You may have already asked your OB about it. Maybe she shrugged and said it’s just part of pregnancy. Maybe you have heard that chiropractic care during pregnancy is safe, but nobody explained why, or what it actually involves, or whether it is going to hurt.

You shouldn’t have to just deal with it, and you don’t have to wait until your third trimester to find relief.

Your Body Is Working Hard. You Deserve Support.

At Peake Wellness Center in Greeley, CO, prenatal chiropractic care is not an afterthought we tack onto general practice. It is one of our primary specialties. Dr. Alexia Peake Inhulsen has been Webster Certified since 2014 and has spent 15+ years working specifically with pregnant patients in Greeley, Windsor, Loveland, and the surrounding Northern Colorado communities.

What Prenatal Chiropractic Care In Greeley, CO Actually Is

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is not the same as chiropractic care for anyone else. Your body is carrying extra weight, your center of gravity has shifted, and a hormone called relaxin is loosening your ligaments to prepare your pelvis for birth. All of that creates new stress on your spine and pelvis, and that stress is often where your pain is coming from.

Dr. Alexia, located at Peake Wellness Center in Greeley, CO, is Webster Certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, a credential that requires specific training in a technique designed for the pregnant pelvis. The Webster Technique is a sacral analysis and adjustment with one goal: reduce the effects of sacral subluxation and sacroiliac joint dysfunction, so your pelvis and nervous system can function the way they were designed to during pregnancy and birth.

Here is what that actually means in the room with Dr. Alexia. We use what’s called a six-point approach, addressing a bone, a muscle, and a ligament release on both the front and back of your pelvis. This releases torque and tension in the structures that support your uterus, and it can ease the restriction that sometimes limits your baby’s movement and development in the womb.

Your uterus is attached to your pelvis by ligaments on every side, the round ligaments in front, the broad ligament on the sides, and the utero-sacral ligaments behind. When your sacrum shifts out of alignment, those ligaments can pull unevenly on your uterus, the same way pulling on two sides of a balloon makes it shorten and tighten. That tension can restrict the room your baby has to move into the best position for birth. Releasing that tension is the goal of every adjustment we do.

Understanding how prenatal chiropractic care works is one thing. Knowing what to expect when you actually walk through our doors at Peake Wellness Center in Greeley, CO is another.

What Your First Visit with Dr. Alexia Looks Like

We know the biggest question on your mind is some version of “is this safe for me and my baby,” and we are not going to brush past that with reassurance alone. Here is exactly what happens during your first visit Dr. Alexia at Peake Wellness Center.

Your first visit takes 30 to 45 minutes. When you arrive for your first prenatal chiropractic care visit, our front desk team will greet you, give you a tour of the Peake Wellness Center office (including where the bathrooms are, because we know that matters), and get you settled in an exam room with a fresh beverage.

We start with a full assessment. This includes bilateral blood pressure and a thorough check of your vitals, because the first thing we need to know is that it is safe for both you and your baby to be adjusted. Dr. Alexia will also talk through what’s going on with you, what you’re feeling, and what you’re hoping for, whether that’s pain relief, general support, or simply wanting a provider on your team who understands what your body is going through right now.

The adjustment itself. Our table has a pregnancy drop section that lowers to make room for your belly, and we have a range of pillows and supports to make lying face-down comfortable no matter your shape or stage. The adjustment includes a bone, muscle, and ligament assessment on the back of your pelvis, an adjustment to your thoracic spine, a neck adjustment if it’s comfortable and appropriate for you, and the same three-point release on the front of your pelvis. The whole adjustment with Dr. Alexia takes about 15 minutes.

Is it going to hurt? Adjustments are not typically painful, though you might feel some temporary discomfort if we get a bigger release. If anything feels uncomfortable at any point, tell us and we stop immediately. If lying on your back for any length of time makes you lightheaded, which can happen later in pregnancy, we adjust the visit, sitting up for certain parts or skipping them altogether. Your comfort and safety come first, always.

How often will I come in? It depends on where you are and what’s going on. In the first trimester, we typically see patients weekly until pain subsides. In the second trimester, if you’ve been under care already, we move to every other week, weekly if you’re coming in new for pain. By the third trimester, as your baby grows quickly, we typically return to weekly visits.

Your OB Doesn’t Have to Be Against This

One of the most common worries we hear is some version of “my OB didn’t recommend this, so is it actually okay?

Here’s the truth: prenatal chiropractic care in Greeley, CO and obstetric care work alongside each other, not against each other. We regularly work with OBs and midwives in the Greeley and Northern Colorado area who refer patients to Webster Certified chiropractors, because they understand that a well-aligned pelvis and a properly functioning nervous system support the rest of your prenatal care, not replace it.

If your OB hasn’t brought it up, that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth exploring. It often just means structural, nervous-system-based care isn’t part of their training or their lane, the same way we don’t replace the care your OB provides. We’re not here to compete with your medical team. We’re here to be the part of your team that focuses on your spine, your pelvis, and how your body is adapting to carrying your baby.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Holistic Fertility Program

Even after reading all of that, you probably still have questions. That’s completely normal. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often from pregnant patients in Greeley and throughout Northern Colorado.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Our techniques are gentle, specific, and modified for your changing body at every stage of pregnancy. We start every visit by checking that it’s appropriate for both you and your baby, and we adjust our approach as your pregnancy progresses.

Adjustments are not typically painful. You may feel some temporary discomfort during certain releases, and if anything feels uncomfortable, we stop immediately and check in with you.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment, developed by Dr. Larry Webster and certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, designed to reduce sacral subluxation and improve pelvic function during pregnancy. Dr. Alexia has held this certification since 2014.

It depends on your trimester and what’s going on with your body. Many patients come weekly in the first and third trimesters, and every other week in the second trimester if pain isn’t a factor. Dr. Alexia will recommend a schedule based on your specific situation.

We are in-network with United Healthcare and UMR. If your insurance isn’t one of these, we also offer care plans to help spread out the cost of ongoing care. Our team can walk you through your options when you schedule your first Prenatal Chiropractic Care appointment with Dr. Alexia.

This can happen, especially later in pregnancy, and it’s something we plan for. If lying on your back isn’t comfortable, we modify the visit, sometimes adjusting in a seated position or skipping certain steps altogether.

Yes. Many of our prenatal patients come in not because something hurts, but because they want their nervous system and pelvic alignment supported throughout pregnancy, not just when something goes wrong.

Wondering If Prenatal Chiropractic Care Is Right For You?

You don’t need to wait until the pain is unbearable, and you don’t need permission from anyone to take care of your body during one of the biggest transitions it will ever go through.

If you’re curious whether prenatal chiropractic care is right for you, the best next step is simply to come in and talk with Dr. Alexia at Peake Wellness Center in Greeley, CO. No pressure, no commitment beyond a conversation about what you’re feeling and what your options are.
